The well-respected sales philosopher and self-help guru Jeffrey Gidomer reminds in his best-selling book Little Red Book of Selling: Keep your antennas up. That’s the advice you need to have in Slush. Antennas up.
I got greatly introduced to the Nordic and Finnish VR scene by Finnish Olli (欧利) , whose heading the Finnish VR association, FIVR . We discussed on cooperation with China, he even took me to meet his companies and get to know their cool space in Pasila.
YLE wants to understand better the VR scene and its developing tech. Cost-effective solution: accommodate freely some of the most advanced VR tech minds on your ground floor and they are all the time in your close reach. Olli and FIVR are independently running the activity and a few great ventures are already pushing forward from their network. European Union is also interested, probably supporting soon – and the core of future VR, China, is waiting by to receive he Nordic stars on the other side of the Silk Road. A lot of work and potential bridge-building to do, which is great.
But the lesson of the story: keep your antennas up. I met Olli on the Slush toilet queue. While talking had really interesting exchanges of thought – and really felt a willingness to cooperate. Two meetings and two calls later we’re much more knowledgeable about the possibilities and a cooperation is looming on the horizon. Thanks Slush again, cheers!
