Slush as an event experience

Awesome !

Slush is here!

Joining actively the two days of exciting Slush extravaganza in Helsinki. Slush is though much more than just the 2 days main event. There’s fantastic pre-programs and side-events. Check more at slush.org/side_events/ .

For me Slush as an event experience is pretty much about two things:

1 ) “Reaffirming” your direction.

For me that is China and Asia. Meeting a lot of people and hearing a lot of talks and subjects around my already existing direction. What is your direction, industry, area what keeps you interested?

More concretely I’m spending a lot of time with the Chinese and Asian delegations and the Slush Asian teams and trying to map out the existing and future trends in Asia.

An important focus is also of course trying to find ways to help more foreigners to land in China and help Chinese to network better with the foreigners. This is the mission of my current startup Boru Tech, the home of two apps, Nihao and the new Nibook. We’re meeting investors, community organisers, startup entrepreneurs, and trying to seek out to the best possible trends and people to cooperate even more.

We’re also helping the foreign Chinese and Korean delegations at Slush. Prestigious organisations such as ZPark, Kotra, China Alliance, and so many more are investing strongly on Slush and startups and building bridges between Asia and Europe which is great.

2 ) Being “born” again.

Finding new interesting people or understanding, which help you to refocus into new direction. Slush is such a “muscular”  tour-de-force which goes into your bones and often may leave an impact like never seen before.

Slush offers a chance to see, feel, realise something new. This happens for many in the event. You might find your new direction, a new decisive investor, partner, employee, media personnel or an individual which changes your life.

I’d myself suggest to have 1/3 pre-booked meetings, 1/3 pre-checked interesting program, talks, panels, at least 1/3 fully free and empty time and space for wondering and finding the unexpected.

Or more simply: have at least 1/3 prebooked “confirmed” program, which guarantees you have something meaningful anyway out of Slush. Then have at least 1/3 of non-planned exploration in the venue, which leaves you open and gives your intuition time. Every great event visitor does this. The last third you can bump up into any direction depending your preferences, feeling and character.

More to come, soon… !
