When the new year changes, it’s time to think about what you want to achieve in this new year? Wanna get a new job? A relationship? A new baby? An own house? Wanna improve your relationship with God? Want to learn how to better manage your economy? Wanna finally get your thesis done?
Many questions we wonder almost daily. Stop for a moment to think about how much these big things take of your time. They are there, in the background, all the time. They can be your potential power machines that inspire you into new heights. Or they become ghosts that take off your energy, your focus and deny you of becoming what you really want to achieve, your best self.
I stopped down to think about my life and what I want to achieve in 2016.
In one word that is: balance.
Year 2016 for me is going to be a big year of creating balance of life.
What does it mean? It means to focus your maximum potential time and energy in all of those things that really matter and help your future growth.
Think about what matters to you?
According to many researches such as (X), in the end important are family and health. Harvard Psychiatrist George Vaillant finds two pillars for happiness: “One is love”, he writes. “The other is finding a way of coping with life that does not push love away.” (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/11/how-this-harvard-psycholo_n_3727229.html)
How can you reach these things? My answer to this is simple: balance. Do a lot of work, but don’t get yourself too exhausted and too blind to focus on other areas. Put an effort on your relationship, but remember to take care of your own hobbies too. Invest in the things you feel passionate about, but don’t lose the ball on your economy.
All areas: family, health, work, economy, hobbies, spiritual life, are very important. None of them should be fully neglected. They support each other. They should also be in balance with each other.
Know what to focus and how much. Don’t overestimate any area. Sometimes you have to push one more than the other. It may be needed in order to get the balance back. Your whole life is about this: balancing out the areas that are important to you.
So what is important to you?
Love. Family. Friends. Health. Social impact. Making world a better place. Finding the meaning of life and living it.
These things are important to me.
How do you reach them?
Working on those.
I sat down yesterday and I identified 6 areas of life that are important to me that I want to have in balance in my life.
They are:
Family (incl. close friends)
Work
Economy
Health
Hobbies / Leisure
Spirituality
In 2016 I will make great choices and build basis to balance these out.
In 2017 I will take those all forward.
In 2018 I have it all covered.
In 2019 I’ve reached most of my goals.
I’m starting a 3 year project right now. From January 2016 until December 2019. Meaning: when I enter “the 20s”, I have my life really well in balance – family, work, economy, health, hobbies, spiritual life.
I will tell how to do it.
Read this and you’ll understand all the choices I will be making in the year 2016. It’s very easy.
If you’re interested about where I’m going, or aiming at, I encourage you to read this blog for two reasons: It helps you to
- understand what is expected from me in the year 2016 in work, living, family, and all areas of life.
- have a mirror to your own life: what are your new year goals, what kind of choices should you make?
Every week I’ll have a new posting. I’ll share it in the social media too. You don’t need to come to see me in China, and elsewhere, just follow this blog and you’ll know what’s going on – and simultaneously, hopefully, learn something of yourself too.
Viva la vida,
in bocca al lupo,
Lauri
